The majority of the fighting took place between factions supporting Udo the son of the former Medegian prince, and Ederradios the head of a cadet branch of the Medegi. In the initial stages of the war a number of other Medegian noble houses staked a claim to the title. While Ederradios boasted considerable support from a large part of the Medegian nobility, his status as the son-in-law of the Thalland’s chancellor Syfos Banzanne was a cause of suspicion for others. The capital of Mentry changed hands several times in the first year of fighting though when Udo took the city at the end of that year it remained his until near the end of the war. By
